Describe
Melt deposition molding (FDM) belongs to the material extrusion series. In FDM, objects are constructed by selectively depositing molten materials layer by layer in a predetermined path. The materials used are thermoplastic polymers, mostly filamentous wires.
The nature of FDM process itself determines that the accuracy of printing products is relatively rough, and the error is also relatively large, especially the surface with “support” added. In the initial stage, it is more used in consumption, education, cultural creation and other fields.
Material
The main materials of FDM process include PLA/ABS/TPU/PETG/Carbon Fiber/Nylon, etc.
The colors are usually white and black. You can consult customer service for other colors.

Advantages and limitations of FDM process
Main advantages:
(1) FDM is the most cost-effective way to produce custom thermoplastic parts and prototypes.
(2) Due to the high availability of this technology, the strength of the wall thickness over 1mm is very good, close to the traditional plastic products, and the delivery time of FDM is very short.
(3) A variety of thermoplastic materials are available for prototyping and some non-commercial functional applications.
Main Disadvantages:
(1) Compared with other 3D printing technologies, FDM has the lowest dimensional accuracy and resolution, so it is not suitable for parts with complex details.
(2) FDM parts may have visible layer lines, so post-processing is needed to make the surface smooth.
(3) Layer adhesion mechanism makes FDM parts have inherent anisotropy.
