3D-printed transformer model – scale 1:20

When we first sent him images of the finished model, the client for the project was on site in India.His comment is……“Absolutely wonderful. I managed the project in India for two years with the senior project manager and he couldn’t believe it was just a model.”We were particularly pleased with the results themselves, especially since it was a technically demanding project with high precision and very realistic details.The model is mainly made of laser-cut acrylic parts, very carefully finished and assembled by hand, and of course the final coating.It is mounted on a square base with a plexiglass cover (the overall size is about 650mm high).The customer was so pleased with the model that they brought us four more models with different designs.

3D-printed model of biogas waste treatment plant – 1:200 scale

This is the second major project we have completed for GlaxoSmithKline, a blue-chip pharmaceutical manufacturer, where they require the highest standards from all suppliers and secondary contactors.A previous model, a 3D representation of their penicillin manufacturing factory (shown at the bottom of this page) was used as a location tool for visitors to the site.The new model shows how the company is using biogas from its waste disposal process to fuel a newly installed cogeneration facility.The color coding of the pipes indicates the different stages of the process.You will notice that they have also installed a large wind turbine on site as further proof of their commitment to sustainable energy.We subsequently updated this model to include a touch-screen information panel associated with interactive lighting on the model.

3D printed interactive ship thruster model – scale 1:10

Commissioning a trade show to be shipped to Germany, this unusual industrial model was a real challenge because of the very complex shape components involved, and also because of the need for very specific interactive elements.The model needed to prove the USP of the customer’s product and, therefore, a rotating propeller (with speed control) and a removable deflector (clockwise and counterclockwise) had to be added at 6rpm.We also had to look at how to mount the model in a cutaway view of the bow and create a cutaway view of the thrusters to show the main working components.

The client of the project was actually a supplier of oil inside the transformer, and the transformer wanted to show typical applications of its product – hence the cutaway view.The oil contained represents 0.5 mm clear acrylic with a light, slightly corrugated, amber finish.It is important that the amount of oil in the eye is visible but clear enough to allow a slightly distorted view of the transformer’s internal components.The model comes with a specially designed aluminum frame aircase, as its first use was for shipping to overseas trade shows.

Full-featured R/C crane 3D printed model – scale 1:12 scale

The working model is commissioned by professional training providers for signalmen and crane operators who need to use a fully functional crane model during their training.The most cost-effective solution is to convert off-the-shelf toys into specialized machines.This included scrapping about 70% of the original model, adjusting the radio-controlled motor to perform new functions, and redoing all the major working components.The model is now fixed on the table in the training room and used once a week.It’s definitely not a toy (although we did have a lot of fun “testing” it before leaving our studio).

3D-printed mobile oil service vehicle model – scale 1:50

The purpose of the model is to demonstrate the company’s new fleet of dedicated trailers to provide mobile oil-related services to the industry.We were able to buy “off-the-shelf” DAF tractors and brand them with company uniforms, but the trailers had to be built from scratch to simplify the customer’s oil processing equipment.The tops of the trailers look as if they have been closed off, but they are actually made of transparent 0.5mm acrylic that allows the interior to be seen while protecting the internal components.The transformer installation was also built from scratch, with a slight simplification.

This model of Orion Water Treatment System is the fourth project we have completed for this large international company.The 3D printed model is based on engineering drawings and is very accurate, showing all the important working components of the system at an easily identifiable level.The client planned to ship the model to an overseas trade show, so we designed an internal steel bracket, bolted to the bottom of the base, to be able to withstand frequent transportation.We also offer custom aluminum aircases with custom internal foam liner lining.
